On January 19, the decoration and exhibition arrangement of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Pavilion at 2010 Shanghai World Expo was started. Vice President of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) and Director of the RC/RC Pavilion came to the Shanghai World Expo Garden to inspect the progress of the construction of the Pavilion and to attend the Opening Ceremony of the decoration and arrangement work.

Guo said at the ceremony that construction of the RC/RC Pavilion must aim to disseminate Red Cross spirits in a distinctive and effective manner. It shall reflect the outstanding contributions the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has made in the humanitarian arena over its more than 150 years of history.

The preparation of the Shanghai World Expo, which is scheduled to open on May 1st, has come to the final sprint. The exhibition arrangement of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Pavilion has also begun its countdown. Right now the whole team is trying their best to ensure a timely completion so that a wonderful RC/RC Pavilion could be presented to the World Expo.

Active Involvement of Red Cross Branches

On January 20, Shanghai Red Cross Branch organized a mobilization meeting for the Red Cross preliminary First Aid training of trainers for the World Expo on-site volunteers. Executive Vice President Ma Qiang made a speech in the meeting. This FA training for World Expo managerial volunteers will be carried out in the form of a 2-hour lecture. Senior instructors of the Red Cross branch were also invited to host demonstration class for 15 trainers to enable them to have a better understanding of the hard and tricky parts of the training and to address different needs of volunteers at various positions.

In order to better implement Red Cross preliminary FA trainings to 6084 Expo managerial volunteers, the Shanghai Red Cross organized the selection of trainers of World Expo volunteers on January 14. 41 core trainers recommended by all 18 counties and districts and some universities attended the selection. Finally 15 excelled over the others and became the first Red Cross preliminary FA trainers for World Expo volunteers.
