Active Involvement in the Relief for Snow Disaster Areas
The snow and cold snap stroke broad areas in China recently have resulted in an uncommon severe snow disaster in North Xinjiang and Middle and East areas in Inner Mongolia. In response to the situation, two batches of emergent relief items valued at RMB 560,000 were provided by the RCSC Headquarters to Xinjiang, quilts and disinfectant valued at RMB 340,000 was distributed to Inner Mongolia and supplies in kind valued at RMB 310,000 was delivered to Hubei.
MOU signed for Guangzhou Asian Games
On January 14th, the Guangzhou 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee signed an MOU with the Red Cross Society of China in Guangzhou. The signing of MOU marked the launching of service of RCSC to the Guangzhou Asian Games and Guangzhou Asian Para Games. The RCSC will support the volunteer’s trainings and service, blood donation mobilization, dissemination on HIV/AIDS prevention and Red Cross service depots, referring to the content and formats of its service during Beijing Olympics. The Guangzhou Asian Games will be held in November, 2010.
Cataract Extraction Project by Shanxi Provincial Branch
The project supporting poor cataract patients to get the extraction surgeries was launched in the morning of January 20th. It is a project co-implemented by Shanxi Provincial Branch and Huadian Power International Co. Ltd., who donated RMB 400,000 to the Red Cross Society of China for this project. Shanxi Branch is responsible for operate this programme in the province where 200 cataract patients from low income families will benefit. The project is planned to conclude by the end of this June.
First Aid Trainings for Enterprise Employees

Ma'anshan City Branch in Anhui Province has arranged a phase I First Aid training for 30 staff h.
'Red Cross Warmth Delivery Campaign' in Guangdong
The '2010 Red Cross Warmth Delivery Campaign' in Guangdong was launched on January 16th by Guangdong Provincial Branch. More than RMB10 million in cash and in kind was donated to over 50,000 people from more than 10,000 poor families.
Township Red Cross Branches was founded in Zhejiang
On January 8th, Sangang Township Red Cross Branch was founded in Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province. 'I hope those kind and capable people can make their contributions', said by Mr. Wang Yuewei, the newly founded RC chief. The Wuyi County Branch donated relief items valued at RMB50,000 to its Sanggang Township Branch.
Medical Care for the Rural Citizens
On January 9th, Qingdao Prefecture Branch carried out a 'Free Medical Care Campaign for Rural Citizens' in Chaohai West and Chaohai East communities of Hetao Street, Chengyang District. There were 58 medical workers volunteering in that campaign, among whom 11 were from countries like Republic of Korea and the United States. The volunteers took with them various types of medical equipments and medicines, as well as their own lunchboxes. The medical team also arranged a mobile dental vehicle, on which the patients can be treated directly.
