
Chinese President Hu Jintao has been invited to keep the role of honorary president of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC), according to a RCSC national convention, which was held in Beijing from Oct. 27 to 29.

Also at the RCSC 9th national convention, which closed on Thursday, Hua Jianmin, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China(NPC), was elected new president of the RCSC; vice chairmen of the Standing Committee of the NPC Han Qide, San Guowei, vice chairmen of the CPPCC Huang Mengfu, Zhang Rongming and Lijinhuan were invited to be honorary vice presidents of the RCSC; Wang Wei was elected executive vice president of the Society; He Yafei, Zhu Zhijin, Chen Xiaoya, Dou Yupei, Wang Jun and Ma Xiaowei were elected vice presidents; Guo Changjiang, Hao Linnan and Wang Haijing were elected full time vice presidents.



According to the nomination by RCSC president Hua Jianmin, the 1th session of the 9th council of RCSC decided Wang Haijing as secretary general of the Society.
During Thursday's session, the RCSC approved a decision on a work report submitted by the RCSC council, a decision on the 2010-2014 development plan for the China Red Cross and a decision on funds management, and other document.
RCSC president Hua Jianmin, former president Peng Peiyun and executive vice president Wang Wei separately made speeches to the convention.
