The Red Cross Society of China(RCSC) launched an appeal on Wednesday for relief of Zhouqu debris flow disaster.
On August 8, the serious debris flow disaster occurred at Zhouqu County,Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu Province. The disaster left 47,000 people affected, 702 people killed, 1042 people still missing and 300 houses collapsed, seriously damaged 700, as well as 3000 flooded.
There are badly needed for food, drinking water, blankets, sleeping bags, water purifying agent and other relief supplies at affected area. As at 18 o'clock on the August 9, the RCSC, China Red Cross Foundation accumulated around the allocation of relief funds and goods to affected areas totaling over 6 million yuan, including disaster relief, instant food, drinking water, quilts , emergency kits, tents, blankets, and other relief goods.
According to the current needs of the disaster areas, the Chinese Red Cross urges all walks of life to take action to contribute and support to affected area. In view of the limited transport conditions, cash donation will be the best way.
Meanwhile the RCSC calls on the branches at all levels across the country to carry out fundraising in line with laws concerned and take action in relief operation.
