The UN Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo donated more than 25,000 yuan to landslide -hit Zhouqu on Aug.25. “Although the donation is not very big amount, it reflects the UN’ s concerning about the effected people, which especially come from the UN’s pavilion at the World Expo.”, said Dr. Awni Behnam, who is Assistant SG of the UN and commissioner general for the UN Pavilion.
Guo Changjiag, vice president of Chinese Red Cross and commissioner general for RC/RC pavilion met Dr. Awni Behnam at the RC pavilion and said that the Society would like to use the donation well to victims and transfer the wiliness from the UN pavilion.
“The donation also represents the UN’s support to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and hope to further strengthen the mutual cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in order to work together to meet the increasing humanitarian challenges in the world,” added Guo.
